Location(s) Risk Assessment

Location 1
Due to this being Piccadilly Circus, it is a high traffic area, meaning we need to assess any possible risks involved when we film here.

First off, the high traffic of this area means that a lot of people who can/will be filmed. Some people do not take kindly to being filmed, and may grow aggressive when they discover they are being filmed. For this, we may either need to cut and refilm the footage that they were in. To prevent any harm coming to us or any actors, we need to assure them that this footage will be deleted and unused. Hopefully this will prevent it, if not, we will contact the police.

Another risk could be the stealing of the camera or recording equipment, which would be devastating and would halt the production completely. To prevent this, we could ask someone who is older, larger and more threatening to protect us and the camera, or, alternatively, we could move the camera to an isolated area, in which it would have no threat of thieves, but still will film the desired shot. This will involve further scouting of this location in the hopes to find an area that is not in the crowd. If the camera does get stolen, we will contact the police to report a crime and will be forced to pay the deposit back to repay the cost of the camera if it was unable to be recovered in time. However, this is an unlikely event to occur.

The traffic around Piccadilly Circus could cause some issues, so we will need to take caution when transporting ourselves, the actors and the equipment to the location(s), as if anything happens to either of the before mentioned people and objects, it will dramatically effect the production of the opening, potentially resulting in the complete halting of it.

The use of gun props within our production may also cause some upset. If a passerby were to see a gun pointed from one actor to another, they would assume the worst and contact the police in the fear that a real shooting would be occuring. To prevent this, we should contact the local authorities in advance saying that prop guns will be used in a specific area, seeing if there is some way they can get tagged and proven so that there is no fear of any police disturbance during our filming. In the event that the police are contacted, we will have to prove and explain the guns and the purpose of them within our production, which would cause a loss of time.
